Visa applications require at least 5 working days to be processed and cannot be collected until after this period. It is worth arriving up to an hour earlier as queues form - the office not only deals with foreign visas, but numerous other applications from Brazilian nationals as well.

The Consulate-General supply the application forms for all visas, and these detail what and how many photos, original documents and copies you will need to supply. Furthermore they ask you to pay the required fees into a post office using the giro slip they supply when you first visit.
